About Romet® TC
A new formulation of hydrolyzed fish protein concentrate that significantly improves the palatability of Romet® feeds which treat furunculosis and ESC. Growers can count on effective disease control because better palatability means improved medicated feed consumption and more antibiotic uptake. Romet® TC works by interfering with the folic acid (a Vitamin B) synthesis pathway. For freshwater-reared salmonids (trout and salmon) and catfish.
The “TC” in Romet® TC stands for “Top Coat”. This Romet® TC can be self-applied or applied in the feed mill. The self-application aspect of Romet® TC is what makes the product appealing. Due to the fact that Romet® TC is a top coat, it is 2/3rds of Romet® 30s strength. Romet® TC can be applied to any type of feed.
Romet® TC‘s withdrawal period can be as short as 3 days for catfish. (This means that with a 5-day treatment period and 3-day withdrawal period, a catfish treated with Romet® TC can be slaughtered 8 days after the drug is initiated.)

Freshwater-reared salmonids (trout and salmon) have a required 42-day withdrawal period from Romet® TC before being slaughtered. Withdraw time is impacted by water temperature.
Feed between 2%-3% of the fish’s body weight per day.

Establish the weight of fish to be treated and calculate the amount of feed needed per day according to fish size and water temperature. Administer medicated feed daily for five consecutive days to provide approximately 50 mg of active ingredients per kg (23 mg/lb) of live body weight of fish per day.

Medicate feed after pelletizing
Prepare a liquid slurry by suspending Romet® TC in water as shown in the table above based on feed intake and weight of fish to be treated. Coat the pelleted fish feed with the slurry, which should be constantly agitated to ensure uniform suspension of Romet® TC during addition. As a general rule, one gallon of liquid slurry is required to 200lbs of pellets.
Pellets may be placed in a cement mixer (if fifty lbs. or more are to be coated) or spread on plastic or a smooth concrete surface for the coating process. The pellets should be mixed constantly but gently while the slurry is being slowly added to insure even distribution without undue pellet breakage. The coated pellets are then spread out and allowed to air dry for several hours.
